If there seems to be a fair few new vacancies this week it's because there is actually a fortnights worth! I'll have to apology for last week's missing post; I was due to be away Sunday and Monday but that extended to Tuesday and by the time I had a chance to update it was almost the end of the week.

So, if you are going to tune in for one week next month the 15th September is the one to catch. No less than seven by-elections will take place that Thursday, with a tasty vacancy in Camden top of the bill.

There are just two this week but we're back in Scotland for another exciting AV by-election. Just a week after a count in Edinburgh went to the wire Labour are defending a seat in a ward where they were behind the SNP in 2007. The other by-election is taking place in Bolsover where the death of an Independent has left an opening for Labour.
